How much do I tip?

People ask me all the time how much to tip the movers. I hate this question because everyone has different tipping beliefs. I usually tell customers that they should tip however much they feel comfortable in giving. I also recommend that they give whatever they do give directly to each mover that way the movers can thank them personally. If it is paid to the movers on the credit card, they will be required to pay tax, we are charged the credit card fees and the movers will have to wait for the tip on their check. So we always recommend it be given to them directly so they can feel the appreciation immediately & fully.
Having water or drinks available in the hot months. Some customers order lunch for the movers if it is a move that covers lunch time. This is always appreciated but not expected of course.
Being nice is one of the greatest tips the movers can receive to be honest. It is easier and more fun to do work for people that show kindness!
HOW DO I FILE A CLAIM? We have an internal process for handling claims. The best thing you can do to protect your interest is to document via writing and photos as much as possible. Keep all packaging etc.
MOVING DURING THE HOLIDAYS Moving during the holidays is never ideal, but life does not take a break for our personal celebrations. While we do not move on Christmas Day, we will accommodate other days as necessary.
There are items that you may need immediately upon arrival at your new home. To keep track of it, we recommend getting a clear tote and putting it in your car. These are things like medications, next day work clothes, remote controls to tvs etc.
WHAT HAPPENS TO THE SCREWS FROM MY FURNITURE? Many times beds and other furniture items are assembled with screws or other hardware. We recommend that you have some sealable baggies available to put them in and label them per item (kind bed, queen bed, Mary's bed, Tommy's dresser mirror screws) and so forth.
DO WE MOVE HOT TUBS? We do move hot tubs, but much like safes, we need to know all the details at both locations as well as it needs to be disconnected and empty prior to our arrival.
WE DON'T WORK ON THANKSGIVING SO THAT OUR EMPLOYEES CAN ENJOY THEIR TIME WITH THEIR FAMILIES!! ENJOY YOUR FAMILIES!!
DO YOU MOVE SAFES? I get this question a lot. And yes, we do. But we need to know a lot more about the safe than, "it's heavy"!! Make/brand Model Height Weight Depth Stairs at load address? Stairs at unload address? Going over grass at either address? Will it be empty? Does the door come off? Basically I need to know everything about it so that I can plan and have proper resources.
DO YOU MOVE MOTORCYCLES? We can accommodate moving motorcycles both locally and long distance however we need to schedule this appropriately and well in advance.
DO YOU MOVE INTERNATIONALLY? We do not do international moves but we can prepare the items for shipping for you.
HOW DO I PAY FOR MY MOVE? We take most methods of payment. If paying with credit or debit, that can be provided to the office the day before. If it is to be invoiced, that needs to be approved in advance. If paying with cash, that will need to be discussed in advance as well.
