HOW DO I PROTECT MY MATTRESS?
Mattresses are large and heavy. They are unique in that they are light in color, heavy in weight and don't need a moving pad to protect them from nicks and scrapes.
There are a variety of applications that can be used to protect a mattress.
Mattress boxes - these are usually used in long distance moving and are costly.
Mattress bags - these are usually thick plastic coverings that go over the mattress to protect it from dirt. The problem is that they rip easily and make it hard for the movers to hold onto the mattress.
Old sheets - This is my favorite. I use an old fitted sheet that I don't care if it gets ripped or dirty. I put it on the mattress. And if I am being extra cautious, I have the movers flip it over and do another one on the back side. Then if needed, throw a plastic cover over the top.
Nothing - the movers will move the mattress as carefully as possible to keep it off the ground as they go. Again, mattresses, especially pillow top, memory foam, queen and king are all very heavy. So it can happen that it touches the ground accidentally.
You will have to decide what your comfort level is and act accordingly.

WHAT HAPPENS TO THE SCREWS FROM MY FURNITURE? Many times beds and other furniture items are assembled with screws or other hardware. We recommend that you have some sealable baggies available to put them in and label them per item (kind bed, queen bed, Mary's bed, Tommy's dresser mirror screws) and so forth.

DO YOU MOVE SAFES? I get this question a lot. And yes, we do. But we need to know a lot more about the safe than, "it's heavy"!! Make/brand Model Height Weight Depth Stairs at load address? Stairs at unload address? Going over grass at either address? Will it be empty? Does the door come off? Basically I need to know everything about it so that I can plan and have proper resources.
